AVIATION WEEK — Air Hollywood Offers a Fabulous Trip

By James Ott April 25, 2008 AIR HOLLYWOOD OFFERS A FABULOUS TRIP If you fly with Air Hollywood, expect a new kind of ride, akin to an episode from The Twilight Zone. It starts with the typical boarding call in a passenger waiting area of an airport. As travelers walk into the cabin, uniformed crews going through pre-flight routines may look vaguely familiar. So will some passengers. But the differences start cropping up immediately. It’s obvious that FAA regulations are being ignored. There are no safety instructions in the seat pocket. Wall panels are loose, and the windows are made of ordinary glass. Astoundingly, the aircraft has no wings or a tail — not even landing gear. Is this a […]

NEW YORK TIMES — In Hollywood, Flights of Fancy

By Christine Negroni July 8, 2012 Original Story NEW YORK — In a series of warehouse-size buildings, a few miles from the Burbank airport in Southern California, travelers crowd through airport terminals and stow their luggage in the overhead bins of airliners that never take off. If the passengers occasionally engage in histrionics, however, it’s not out of frustration: It is because the hangars and all the airline-related accoutrements in them belong to Air Hollywood — one of several studios where filmmakers go when the storyline calls for air travel. When Brad Pitt’s character Billy Beane went for his interview with the Boston Red Sox in the business-of-baseball film “Moneyball,” he was on an Air Hollywood flight — as was […]

Now occupying a strip of Pacoima warehouse spaces, the company offers the film industry cockpits and passenger sections with removable ceilings and walls, interchangeable seating and even unobstructed toilets, as well as airline props and soundstages that can be dressed as security, check-in, baggage claim and other sections of […]
